Is the tool tray in front of the radiator a structural member on the Firebirds?

Yes it holds and supports the front bumper cover.

Looking for a way to get a lot of air into my LS engine without sucking water and debris off the front tire.

Without that cover air will lift up the front of the hood immensely. I take it you're not a fan of hole-sawing one of the battery trays?
Even if the tray wasn't needed you wouldn't get much air over the top of the core support. Look how thin the camaro intakes are and then remember that 'birds hoods are even lower. _________________

Going through the battery tray is one of the options. My supercharged '94 Vette had an air cleaner near the ground in front of the tire and I was constantly cleaning the thing.

I'm sure it is, but as long as all the under body work is intact the side pieces for the airdam will block water from splashing straight up onto a filter there.

The 'Vette had a completely housed wheel well. It was just being close to the ground that was the problem. Very dusty place. A little elevation makes a lot of difference.

If you get rid of the tool tray where is your mechanic gonna set his wrenches while he finishes your car?

the tool tray supports and allows you to adjust the bumper to the hood. the metal bumper is right there though if you wanted to fab a frame off it or something. i was going to use the fog light holes for air but idk what gfx u have.

Heck, I need a mechanic right now for the 4th gen. Just can't get it to idle right. |
