Like many 3rd gens my T/As doors are sagging and I'm tired of it. How hard is it to install a new hinge pin kit? Any suggestions on what to get or where to get it? I've heard its easier if you have someone to help hold the door.

Top-Down Solutions has a nice kit for both upper and lower pins. The uppers are the hard ones and need to be ground or drilled out prior to installing the new ones. You will need one kit for each door. Or spend a little more and get the greasable pin kit.

While you have the door off, it's also a good idea to replace the detent roller and pin. This is the most difficult because the pin is two parts that are pressed together and the best way to separate them is with heat and a vise.

I replaced one side when I replaced the door. As you can guess, much easier.

The other side was a bit of work. I still have yet to get that spring back in even with the cool tool....It just doesnt fit

also if you can't get a buddy to help ya hold up the door, and you happen to have some nylon rope or strap and a cherry-picker, you can use that to support the door.

IIRC, Xophertony did this when he replaced his hinge pins many years ago.

It's been along time but I vaguely remember doing this on my car. IIRC, I built a jig out of wood to hold the door at the correct elevation and in plane. It consisted of a couple of 4x6's, 1x4 and verticle 2x4's to hold the door upright. I got the door loose then slid the whole assembly away from the car.

I just had someone else unbolt my door while I picked it up and set it on some sawhorses. Did the work and held it in place for the bolt jockey to hook 'er back up.

Didn't have any troubles with my spring things either. I think I used a crowbar to pry the spring and pop it into place.
