I drove the '01 SS today after going from 2.73 gears up to 3.42 gears. It's a real tire shredder now. It's pretty obvious why they didn't use that much gear from the factory with the auto tranny. It's just too easy to lay rubber. But I like it and I think it will impress buyers.
Unfortunately, I can't get rid of the warnings on the dash about ABS and traction control being inoperable. I guess I ruined something swapping the axle. I'll have to troubleshoot the sensors and wires. |

I like your approach - go for the obvious first. That's a little too obvious though. |

Make sure they are the same sensors. And that they are close enough to the tone wheel. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I swapped my backing plates and sensors. The only thing I'm curious about is if I installed the ruluctor ring the wrong way. I put the flat side toward the axle flange and the dished side facing the splines. I swear I put them on the same way they came off my old axle.
Edit: I just found a picture from a junk yard. I did install them correctly. |

Well, there's no accounting for STUPID. When I installed the sway bar I put one of the U-bolts over the wire leads and crushed them. I'll repair the wire and I'm pretty sure the problem will go away. |

I've done that more than once at work. Fix the seat box or handset, put it back together only to pinch/crush a wire during re-assembly (I work on components for In Flight Entertainment installed on airliners). Nothing like having to pull a box apart after repair when it fails a test, only to find a wire broken or not connected. I've even left solder off one side of an IC after replacing a group of memory chips on a board _________________ 92 Camaro

Yep, it's fixed. At least it was free! I like that. |
