|

I forgot how much interference had to be removed to get the exhaust manifolds out. Both my gaskets in the V6 are leaking, as well as the donut. I got the driver side out and installed a new Remflex gasket, but to get there, I had to undo accessories so I could undo brackets, so I could undo more brackets After moving the A/C compressor and power steering pump out of the way and removing their brackets, old gasket is out and new one in. I am not looking forward to the passenger side with all the A.I.R. crap to move along with the EGR which is attached to the manifold.
The old piece looked like this when I finally got it out.

And I was just going to ask how that would solve my gasket problem
I think the Remflex gaskets will do the trick, but I might have to take out the connecting pieces between the ports so I can put the plugs in without fighting the gasket material just hanging there.

Trust me, John, I ran Flowsuck headers on my IROC, I'm plenty familiar with that exact picture right there.

Man guys, my headers come right out... Easy peasy. I have nothing bolted to or around them though, a little different than your experiences.
Remflex are the best exhaust gaskets in the world. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

| If your manifolds are nice and true, no gaskets is the way to fly. Nothing to blow out. |

What's the cost of that? About the same as gaskets? Anyway, I'm not pulling them off again
Only piece I couldn't find anywhere is the gasket that goes to the EGR riser (the pipe the EGR sits on top of) where it mounts to the manifold. |

Depends on the place. Anywhere from $50-$80 for the pair. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| Maybe next time. I could get two to three sets of the gaskets I have for that. These shouldn't leak, unless the unlikely damage on install, and once installed, the bolts never need to be re-torqued. I have the same brand gaskets on the 89's headers, and haven't touched the bolts since install. |

You're just biased against Flowtech because they were so much fun to install on my T/A! _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Say John, when you and James put those turds cleverly disguised as headers on your Trans Am, you just used the paper "gaskets" didn't you? |

| No, they were the steel layered ones that either the previous owner provided or that I got from Ian. They were three pieces per side, not one big one like in the above pic. |

Those might get you a few miles with the FlowSucks. Before I went with Remflex gaskets on mine, I was blowing double-stacked Mr. Gasket papers (another fine company that doesn't make total crap ) with regularity at around 500 miles. |
