I Put A/C INTO something.
I have access to Freon and the machine at work and free conversion fittings. So I said screw it! And I put the A/C in. Few loose ends to tie up.
I also put a 120 amp Izuzu alternator on. It's massive. I have yet to change the pulley to my dual belt pulley. On the list. Makes the motor look even smaller with all that stuff in there. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Wow! Old age setting in early?
But yes.. I like my A/C! If it slows you down, ADD MORE POWER! |

I figure I have to ditch the clutch fan to make the power back. Especially for the draw of that alternator! _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

So when the a/c kicks in does the rx7 do a time warp backward?? Maybe mazda should have added another rotor to pump the ac! |

| Do your lights dim at idle? As high speed as that engine goes, the alternator must darn near shut off at idle in order to keep the alternator speed in check at the top end. Just kind of wondering how that works. |

Regulator does all the work. Rpms really don't matter. The biggest thing to watch out for is pulley size. Alternators are made to spin at a certain RPM themselves to function. We put a draw on the alt and it put out 120 amps at idle. The motor only revs to 7. Not much more than your average import 4cyl.
It's an Izuzu alternator and they rev to 3500. Works great. Parts are the same as a car.
Haven't charged the A/C yet. I'm going to purge the system with nitrogen and check leaks. Then I'll run it with the old filter/dryer and expansion valve for a bit to collect all the junk. Then I'll put new ones in once it's all good. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Do you have a leak detector that actually works like it should? We've had a few, and as far as i'm concerned they've all been garbage. You could probably feel the leak as easily as find it with our detector. |

Ours is over sensative it seems. I've also got nitrogen to pump through the system at high pressures. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| Nitrogen would be nice. Is it as sensitive or more so using it? I've basically gotta charge it and look. |

That's what you do with the nitrogen but it's cheaper and you can crank up the pressure to REALLY check. Plus it helps high pressure blow out the system. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

A/C BLOWS COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get to play with the pressures once it get's warmer out. Got all the electrical and the carb idle diaphram hooked up.
No idea what the high pressure switch cuts out at, or what the pressures are supposed to be. Couldn't even find accurate info on how much to charge the system which so I went with Forum Info for the fill lol. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

If its cold its working!
Does that system use an orifice tube or valve? |

Expansion Valve.
I have a new one to put in at some point. Also need to find someone that has a Filter/Dryer. Wanted to run the system with the old stuff for a while to get all the old contaminants contained before putting the new parts in. Give it a few weeks.
Doesn't have a defrost on switch, which is a bummer. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| Can you adjust the valve for pressure? I've never tried it, but read on the truck board where those guys have messed with the pressures for better cooling. I used a variable orifice in the formy and it really worked well. Speaking of which.. formy a/c is kaput for some reason at the moment. |
