My Jeep Cherokee with 31" tires schooled an expensive Lexas RX300 today by 1 car length to 55 mph. Laughing Seriously.... how slow do you have to be to lose to a sub 200 Hp SUV with tires that ruin gearing? Just another example how Toyota builds boring cars. Razz

Oh, I forgot to mention that I did it despite part of my exhaust falling off last night and a check engine light glowing on the dash. Everybody knows that a Jeep can run bad for longer then most cars run at all. Wink

I forget what year qwktrips is.

I have a '97 sport, no real mods...yet.

I actualy think we have 4 XJ's in the crew, and at least one wrangler. We could start a jeep sub-group.

Sad A jeep sub-group. Sad

I can barely afford the Camaro primary group. I have a rear end looking to be put in, I have wind shield wipers that either need to get fixed or I gotta talk the rain into avoiding me already. Now I hear I gotta buy a jeep too. Confused you rich employed folk are trying to break me aren't you. BTW I have never mentioned that I am starting to build an airplane in my newly acuired garage too. You have any idea what an altimeter costs??? give you a hint hint

Now I gotta buy a jeep. Crying or Very sad you guys are trying to break me.

I think those instant garage thingies make pretty good airplanes when the winds right, and you can keep your car in it til then! bonus! As for the altimeter, who needs to know how high they are? Just so long as you're above the ground. Shrug

Good point. on the ALT. really don't need one that expensive anyway.
I have a real garage now cause my house fell off its foundation oct 30, so the landlord gave us another house, and it has a garage, so I'm a happy guy now. But where am I gonna put a jeep?

Well my coworker tried to drive his into the living room.. seems his wife was somewhere in front there too... That might make a good place for a jeep though.

Mine is a 2000. Old Man Emu suspension with a whole rear spring pack (avoid add-a-leaf if you can afford it), Durango 4x4 rear bumper + tire carrier, and a power sunroof. I've had it for 8 years and it has been a good rig for me. The suspension corrected almost everything wrong with the stock ride and handling.

Any higher lift and i would have to do a slip yoke eliminator and I don't want to spend the money. Any larger tires and I would have to cut the wheel wells and I don't want to drive a hack job.

You can do an easy 4.5" before needing the SYE.

Wranglers need the SYE at 3.5"

Sounds nice. Here's my rig I sold shortly before we moved here. 92 6.5 Rough Country, 33s etc..Was mostly off pavement only rig, but drove to and from the trails. Crappy pic..

No way. Most people run into trouble at 3 to 3.5 inches of lift.

I am with qwk on this. I have always heard 3" is the limit before needing to do a SYE. I have also heard of guys who have problems with only 3" lifts.
