Nothing meaning it turns over but no fire or meaning that it just clicks without anything else? _________________

Wait, so it turned over and started, and now it wont crank at all, and you somehow suspect the battery died?
I'd be looking at bad connections at the batt hot and starter, VATS, bad P/N switch (or in gear ). Takes a lot to kill a battery. |

Fuses shouldn't cause a no-crank issue.
If the battery has enough juice to give you lights and gauges, then it would have enough juice to at least give you a weak crank, or a solenoid click. Also, it verifies 12V from the batt to the main starter lug.
Check if the trigger (fat purple) wire to the solenoid is hot when cranking. |

| You need to check that the line to the solenoid has power. If that line "has juice" as you say, then the solenoid is shot. |

mine was the wire to the starter had 12v but it was so corroded on the inside it didn't even turn the starter over..so you should check that _________________ -Donald

It might be a vats problem. i had a problem a similar issuewith my 1991 firebird. somtimes my car would turn over fine and somtimes not at all. i replaced the starter, battery, and battery cables ignition stitch and it turned out to be a vats issue. does ur key have a chip? I had to wire in a resistor that matched the chip in the key's resistance to disable vats and to get it to fire everytime. thats the cheap way of getting around it, u can program it out with chip tuning also,or replace it with new stuff to keep it working. no problems with it ever since. just another possibility. _________________ 1991 Firebird L03 T-5 |

He says no vats light. But that light could be blown. But yea, if vats was triggered, it is "dead", no click, nothing. It also takes IIRC 5min from the last try for it to reset itself. When I had issues with mine, I could breath on the chip/key for a few seconds, and make it work???
I had a problem with a corroded wire once. It would give me lights, but lights would dim when you turn the key.
You say the starter is "new". Re-check your connections. Maybe you didnt get something tight. (been there, done that) |
