Camaro SS wheels Very Happy They aren't in the best condition. They will need to be repainted. One tire has a nasty gash in the side wall and another has a chunk missing from the shoulder which I don't think would be safe to drive on. The wheels are 17x9" and the tires that came on them are 285/40/17 Nitto NT555's. At least two of them are decent with a little tread on them.

What was funny is that a couple of days ago I made up my mind that I wanted to get some different wheels and SS wheels were near the top of the list, so I hopped on Craigslist to see if anyone was parting out any cars and BAM! the first listing was for some SS wheels for $200. Talk about good timing.

There is some curb rash and a couple iffy slight bends in the outer lip so hopefully they all hold air. If so, then I'll be one happy camper. If they don't, I just found out one my friends has a couple sets of SS wheels so I wont be SOL. Either way I think They'll compliment my Ground Control kit nicely. I was also thinking of painting these either gunmetal, silver or satin black. What do you think?

I think those in satin black would look really good, but on a blue car I'd probably do a lighter color. Nice find! Very Happy

+1. If you go black on those, you'd have to have some lighter accent on the wheel, like the outer rim, or maybe the face of the spokes.

Solid black on your near-black car would look murdered out IMHO.

Gun metal grey would look good, or polish them. 200.00 bucks was a good deal.

Awesome! Those will look great on your car. I just picked up some SS wheels I'm thinking about rocking for awhile.

After some searching, 285/40/17 tires up front are going to be a bit iffy, especially when lowered. I'm going to roll all my fenders but does anyone have any thoughts on what size spacers I should run up front? I really like the look of flush wheels but I don't want to rub like crazy. I've heard of people running 2" or 2.25" adapters. I'm sure I'll have to BFH the inside wheel wheel a bit but what else should I be concerned about?

I'm running 2" fronts on my car, but with my brakes, it sicks them out an extra 1/8", but your wheels are also wider. I think up front, larger than 2" is going to stick those wheels out too far.

why not mock them up on the car with it on a stand or block of wood and measure what you need, you could even try lock to lock like that and see what works best
just a thought

Rich

You should also think about putting an IROC/WS6 steering box if you haven't got one already. The 245 cars had different stops than the 215 cars to prevent the front tires from rubbing.

I actually need a new steering box ASAP as mine is leaking. I'm actively looking for one. As well as an adjustable panhard bar and 2" wheels adapters

Wow, just wow. Two Les Schwab locations I called have never heard of Nitto tires. Thumbs down Has anyone used DiscountTires2Go.com? I found the tire I need for $129 a piece whereas Tire Factory wanted $225 each and Discount Tire wanted $164 each. Before anyone says anything, Tirerack.com doesn't carry Nitto tires.

Why Nitto's? Worried about matching the set? On the dyno cruise Tony was just ahead of me, and I saw him get squirrelly in a couple of corners that I took at the same speed just fine. He runs (IIRC) Nitto 555s, while I had cheapo Kumhos.

Are you talking about the crosslace wheels he got from me? If so, those are not the 555s (which I've heard good things about the 555II's), those are the 450's which are a inexpenaive (comparatively) summer tire. I think I might've paid 500 for the whole set?

Not only that, it's Tony. You sure he wasn't trying to get squirely? Sorry Gambino! Smile
