Does this mean I have to get other bright shiny accessories? Or should I get a can of black spray paint and make it look like the rest of the motor? I put on an open element air cleaner and the only way they come apparently is in chrome. I got a drop hat cleaner, but still had to use a 3/4" spacer to clear the throttle linkage. The breather was different to me as it connects to the base and uses the air cleaner element for its filter and it posed the most difficulty (though not hard) to connect. A heater hose elbow stuffed into the valve cover grommet for the breather and a length of 5/8" heater hose to complete the connection did the trick.

my vote is to rattle can it , then again i'm not a fan of chrome the open element on mine is black prob just all depends on brand

there r a few black air cleaners out there but easyer to get chrome. i vote more chrome but painting it would be a lot cheaper and would still look dam good

Throw a K&N in there and it wont seem that bright.

BTW John, did you loose your serpentine set-up?

One of the brakets broke...and I had it welded, and it broke again. So I replaced it with the V-belt setup. It will work better for me. When I at some poitn put the 2 Eaton superchargers on, I will need the extra room.

Very nice, Im sure you've researched it more than me, but what do you think of the Weiand TBI supercharger?

I didn't know weiand made one. I know they make the 142's. And whipple makes a TBI one for the trucks.

Its a lot of money for something, but coule be a pretty neat setup. The hard part is getting a hood that it all fits under. Even a 3" cowl, you would struggle to fit it all under.

Yeah It would be sweet. I came across the weiand one in a book in the autoparts store, whole kit with belts and a burnt chip, I think it was meant for a 1/2 pickup aswell... Can never find anything "bolt on" for a TBI third gen....

There isn't really a bolt on supercharger for the cars. And they use a different computer than the trucks do, so even the chip won't help you. For $$$ if you want to go the roots blower route. The standard long-nose 142 with a carb/tbi adatpor plate would work. Then it is jsut a matter of getting a boost refrenced FPR, and doing teh computer work. And on a firebird, probably a 4" cowl to fit it all under.

The closest I have seen, is a guy on TGO who did it many years ago, but he used a 4bbl TBI unit from Holley, and a Commander 950 computer. I'll do a search for the thread on TGO for you, and see if I Can find it.

The chrome looks clean, and so does the master brake cylinder and fluid holder..kind of goes together!
