Truck broke down yesterday. .was just slowly acclerating from behind a school bus.. 1200rpm. When this happens.

I guess a comp XE 262 is fine with the comp roller tips.. But the Voodoo 262 be too much lol. Those parts are off of 2 different valves. The exhaust stud broke, and the pieces got in the way of the intake which bent the pushrod. Luckily no bent valves, or at least the cylinder still holds air fine. Now to figure out how I want to fix this.

There are piles of pushrods around somewhere.. Trying to decide if i just replace the stud and put it back together.. or get some full rollers.

I think that pushrod is saveable. Just smack it with a hammer a couple of times. Very Happy

I'm with stupid

No more roller tips for me.

I put mine in the red TPI car this winter after taking them out of the blue car. When I rebuild the 305 I'm gonna take them out of there too.

Looks like i'm at the limit on these pivot ball rockers all right. Looking at the springs i'm using.. i'm about 350#s open pressure. This cam is also opening 0.530 with the 1.6 rockers. With the comp cam my lift was only 0.500 and i was using z28 springs.

Looks like the springs spec at 330#s at 0.500 lift. So i'm guestimating at 350 at 0.530.. too much anyway lol. The springs are 462# per inch rate. I like how on the jegs site they say upgraded rockers recommended for that cam. I just went ahead and ordered up a set of these..

All USA made, and specs look pretty good. Almost went with CNC's stainless .. which were cheaper. But no idea where they're actually made. Now I'm prayin that when that pushrod got bent it didnt hurt my cam. Another flat cam is all i'd need.

Shiny new parts arrived. These things are freaking heavy actually. Seem to be nice quality.

Well there's evidence on the studs that the comp magnum rockers were rubbing. Not sure if it was the pivot ball or the rocker itself though. I don't see any sign of rubbing on the rocker, but theres definate wear on pushrod side of the studs. Comp never tells you how much lift a long slot rocker will handle. Another thing I noticed is the comp rockers have a whole lot more side play in them then the jegs rockers. Both sets are self aligning. I'd say the comps have more then 1/8" side play, and the jegs are probably half that. The jegs use a roller tip with side rails built into the roller. The comps have a smooth roller and edges built into the rocker itself for the alignment feature. Looking in jegs catalog, it looks like comp may be going to the railed roller now as well on the magnum rockers. I would think this would keep the side clearances much tighter. I'm hoping by losing all this slop, and whatever was rubbing the studs, my motor will end up much quieter. It's been quite noisey since I put this cam in, and was never very quiet with the old comp cam either.
