so i want to relocate the battery so i can make a cold air intake.
i was just curious on the best method on doing this.
so i was thinking putting the battery (sealed of course) where the spare tire goes. but i just dont know which is the best way to route the cables. either tucked under the car or some how thru the interior.
IDK....just lookin for some suggestions _________________ gas brake dip dip |

Do you plan on ever taking it to the drag strip? _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

it can get spendy to buy the length of 1ga welding cable that runs from the hatch area up to the starter.
And I think you'll have to find a way to mount a disconnect switch somewhere on the outside of the body.
Twilightoptics did this mod about a year or so ago. He could tell ya more about it. _________________

Alright, If you relocate the battery from the stock location to the rear of the vehicle it's going to need to be contained in an aluminum battery box or sealed off by a firewall. You'll have to have an exterior mounted battery cut off switch that is clearly marked OFF and wired to the alternator to kill all power to the car and engine.
The only plastic battery box that is NHRA legal is the one sold by Moroso. Instead of a switch you can also have a push/pull cut off, that way when you're done racing you can remove the rod so it's not visible from the exterior. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

| You could try and get an extra tail light from the junk yard. Then you could mount the switch in the tail light housing. Then when you need the switch at the track put the other tail light housing in. |

Yes, it's an NHRA rule. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

The only track legal battery box that I am aware of, is the Morroso sealed one.

Has to be a SEALED battery box that is NHRA approved.
You might get yourself a rulebook if you're planning to run the drags on any kind of regular basis. |
