Siphon it!
If the pump isn't totally DOA yet you can also pump it out. |

Mine had a little more in it than I thought, but still just a couple of gallons. We found out that the gravity drain worked pretty good _________________ 92 Camaro

Or you could grow some muscles.
(I wouldn't want to do a half tank either but I've done it before.) _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Wiring done. Pump primes.
All thats left that I'm going to do is bolt the front part of the exhaust up, and install the rear seat belts.
Rear seats staying out, and fender liner is staying out tell I figure out what I want to do to keep filler neck from wiggling around. |

Did you go with a factory style pump? Walbro? Racetronix? _________________

| Stock pump. Should be fine to run a TPI, or a stock LS1 if I find one for a decent price. |

We drained the tank in my T/A with the fuel pump by disconnecting the fuel line at the filter and letting it pump into a bucket. Once we saw what came out it was obvious why the car wouldn't start. After sitting in the tank for several years, the gas (if you could call it that) had actually turned green! _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Oh ya, thats not fun. It should go in much easier. Is it possible to cut the filler neck and reattach it with a large hose? On my current vehicle i used that gas tank repair epoxy on a leaky filler neck and never had a problem after the repair.
So what is the goal with this project? Just replace the pump? _________________ E30

The factory filler neck has a vapor tube inside of it so you can't just cut it off and repair it with a rubber filler line. |

remove more rust

Fix hole in floor from previous owner
clean up engine bay room by moving charcole canister(not completed yet) |

Moved on its own power.
To give you an idea how full the tank was. New tank reads 80%, after leaking some during install.
Would like to thank Ian for tons of help on parts, links, etc.
Still have to install rear seats, and remove front charcole canister. But I had to get it out the garage so we can finish remodeling the house. |

I knew it never read right since I got the car. Just never knew how far off it was.
I put a 4th gen tank in, so I had to put the grand prix sending unit in it.
4th gen tank
stock LS1 pump
all hoses are fitting'ed on. No riggin crap
grand prix sending unit
new tank straps
"new" panhard brace
"new" sway bar body brackets
4th gen heat shield (it is different)
hole in floorboard fixed
floor board beat in more to clear torque arm
left to do....
wire charcole canister to rear one and remove engine bay one
wire up tank pressure sensor
mount filler tube so it doesnt wiggle
install rear seats |

| How do you plan to wire up the charcoal canister? I think the LS1 engine PCM normally controls it. Not sure what is the logic used. |

To my LS1 pcm I'm going to try and un-route them out my engine harness and route them to the rear. But I'm sure I'm going to have to cut them, then extend them to make it to the rear "firewall". |
