I've heard of bits that could do that, but never seen it in action. Obviously a press is a must as that chuck looks a bit off center. Pretty cool stuff.

The chuck is elliptical, yes. Works like a Wankel engine.

They seemed to have solved the main issue with the Watt mortise bit which is that it left a very small rounded corner, so even though you used it you still had hand work afterwards. That's why you would normally use a chisel bit like so:

It still leaves rounded corners, the holes are too small to see them, but check out the diagram. They are very minute, but still rounded. Wink
