Yup yup I think that's how I will go with mine. I was going to put it in the tire well, but I'm now debating running the it behind the passenger seat like Ian's since everything behind the seats will be gutted anyway.

As an alternative to the base or IROC wheel? Hell yeah! Grant is the way to go. Wink

Blargh! I hate paint fumes. No no no...

Nice progress! When does the cage go in? Can't have a sheetmetal dash in a t-top without a cage.

Haha, no funds for that now. I would love to run a cage and tie it into the strut towers and SFC's, but as they say, your money's money is all that moneys.

Says the guy who likes airbag wheels! I will probably be looking at a Grant down the road, but I have the IROC wheel in hand.

Wiring looked pretty clean really. And Amplifier wire can handle a lot more current than battery cable for the same size or smaller.

Looked being the operative term. Wink The car cranked so slow it would barely start. That whole install was bad-news bears.

So did mine after my battery relocation. Turned out to be a junk starter.

Updates!

First off I would just like to mention that when you buy a car that is completely gutless, and you find a box of old plug wires in the back seat, it's probably worth sticking your head under the hood to make sure that the numbnuts in there before you didn't swap the two and four. Wink The Banana runs pretty damn good now with no weight and all six cylinders. I was so pleased by this I brodied for half a block. Very Happy

Some other random notes from the shop:

I've posted here before about GM blower motors and the different sized squirrel cages you can run in order to use an aircon motor on a delete box, and this is what I'm talking about:

The delete motor has the black cage, the aircon one has the white cage. As you can see the shaft for the aircon motor is much longer than the delete shaft. The aircon cage has very long blades, too long to fit in the delete box. You need to hit up FWD cars in the junkyard till you find a cage like the white one in the pic with short blades and the provision for the long driveshaft.

The reasoning behind this is to get a larger, and presumably heavier-duty motor. Note the size difference in the cases, which is reflected in the windings. One issue is the air inlet for the motor. In the pic below you can see the issue. This can be resolved by getting several bypass tubes from the junkyard and joining two together.

And that's enough about shafts, on to petals!

Anyone on TGO who tells you you can't mix and match third and fourthgen pedals has cousins for parents, 'cause I just did it:

All that stuff about different sized shafts on the clutch pedal and whatever is all a bunch of bull. The master cylinder is about a quarter inch diagonally down and to the left vs the thirdgen one, but I did not even need to ream out the holes, there was enough slop for it all to fit together nicely. The clutch engages a little bit lower, which I prefer to the thirdgen style. It also pushed the clutch pedal over to the driver's side an inch or more which is really nice when you wear size 11-2E workboots. Very Happy

This is how she sits as of this evening:

Now I've just got to convince myself to start cutting into a working harness, and to pull a running engine. Stay tuned!

Nice! Now get that motor out! And then we can have a race to completion.

Not sure, B. I will probably keep the accordions, they are sweet. I really love these seats, they are comfortable and totally unique (my two favorite things Wink).

They are too heavy for my flyweight taste, but I'm thinking of gutting the air crap out of them. Think I'll wait till I have some ass-time in them before I decide. Laughing
