a little steep but i am WAY in the market for a transmission right now. are the LS1 t56s the ones that use the same style of clutch, or is that the LT1 T56s.

That's the one you want if you're keeping your T5 stuff, Tony.

I say too much for a trans you don't know is good or not.

Although for some reason t56s have gone up in price over the last year or so. Sad

What's wrong with the good ol' T5, Tony?

Mine isn't bad per se, but it does have it's problems. Increasingly loud whine in 3rd and 5th is starting to worry me. No synchro or shifting problems yet.

I could fix my T5 for cheaper than buying a T56, but the coolness factor of having 6 gears is drawing me in. Laughing

i have not been able to use 5th gear for about three months. i did our entire dyno cruise in fourth. if you get a six speed i'll take your whining 5 speed over mine any day.

Fun, fun. If I get a 6-speed soon (which I might) I'll sell you my 5-speed for peanuts on the dollar. Laughing

It's been whining for over 20k miles and hasn't gotten much worse. Shrug

You don't want his "4-speed" T5. Razz

I'll sell you mine! Can I start a bidding war here? Laughing

Oh, gotcha. Wink I'd rebuild mine if I didn't want to get a 6-speed anyway.

Just out of curiosity, what should a decently priced T56 go for?
