Last time I had the 390 apart, I dropped for FelPro Performance headgaskets, not realizing that FelPro doesn't make a good shim-style gasket (Z1094) like they do for the smallblock, they just make these, which are basically stock-style:

The closest thing for material and thickness is this garbage:

Is it worth running those Mr. Crapouts to bring quench up? It's a pretty high compression engine, and I'll be down there swapping intake manifolds out, so it wouldn't be that much more work.
Any advice, guys?  |

| Amazingly mr gasket steel shims arent that bad. Thats actually the only product of theirs I can think of saying that about too. |

| Got em in my 454. I really don't see how you can screw up a stamped piece of sheetmetal. And yes, coppercoat is the stuff. |
