Last time I had the 390 apart, I dropped for FelPro Performance headgaskets, not realizing that FelPro doesn't make a good shim-style gasket (Z1094) like they do for the smallblock, they just make these, which are basically stock-style:

The closest thing for material and thickness is this garbage:

Is it worth running those Mr. Crapouts to bring quench up? It's a pretty high compression engine, and I'll be down there swapping intake manifolds out, so it wouldn't be that much more work.

Any advice, guys? Shrug Shrug Shrug

Amazingly mr gasket steel shims arent that bad. Thats actually the only product of theirs I can think of saying that about too.

Got em in my 454. I really don't see how you can screw up a stamped piece of sheetmetal. And yes, coppercoat is the stuff.
