The main stuff is finally done. Chassis, doors, hood. I'm going to leave it primer until this summer, or maybe forever.... I kinda like the satin black that the DP90 comes out as.
This is my LT1 car. I hope to have it driving again this weekend! I just have to shoot the rest of the parts and assemble.

I have no idea what color to paint it. I can't seem to make up my mind. Nothing is really calling me. The satin black is looking good though. I keep thinking of painting gloss black strips down the middle and calling it good. What do you guys think of that? _________________ E30

go stripes!!!!!! then again im a little bias I would urge you to use caution about it though. strips are a lot harder to pull off than you think. i spen about 6 hours just taping mine, but every hour was so worth it to have them turn out the way they did. make sure the stripes move with the lines of the car and taper with the angles on the hood. stripes done poorly look really ghetto, but stripes done well look unbelievably BADASS! just my word of advice

mmmm..... mean..... Me likey. Its pretty much done except for the mirrors and gas door. Took me long enough too huh? I drove it about 2 weeks ago. Now I'm working on the street readiness, like speedo, door panels, and cleaning it up. But there you go!
I still like the strip idea Jake, I think it would look BAAAADAASSS! _________________ E30

Notice how they taper towards the front and follow the lines on the hood. This is what i was talking about before. when done right they are awesome. GOODLUCK!

I noticed the same thing....
I forgot what springs are back there and I need to check it out. It rides a little funny. The springs are stock RS base springs that show up in 90% of the cars. |

Really clean looking with that flat paint on it though.
How's the LT1 holding up? Now that I've got a few bucks I'm seriously starting to look for an LT1/T56 combo for my IROC. |

The LT1 motor is an amazing beast. The stock TBI 305 tach is still in the car, which yellows close to 4k, red at 5k. The LT pulls hard starting at 4k, crazy past 5k, and clean up to the 6.5k fuel cut point! Coupled with the 3.07 torsen rear, the car is one beast to be recogned with. And since its all stock, I've got plenty to gain.
The first project will be to pull the heads and clean it all up. I'm sure it has tons of deposites. When I bought it, it smoked, ran rich, and the owner knew it. Stupid idiot had never changed the plugs! They had carbon deposites that I cleaned up with a wire brush. Runs great right now! But I'm sure its got deposites elsewhere that needs cleaned out. Once thats done, I'm porting the heads intake a little. _________________ E30

Damn dude.
Good to hear it's running and pulling hard though. I've looked over a lot of swap options, and the LT1 seems to be the best for me right now. |

Hmmm I wonder if Jess will pipe in but I don't remember how high his LT1 pulled on the dyno.
He put out 250HP though. |

I like the primer! It's the sneaky-sleeper-spent-all-my-money-on-speed-parts look. |

Don't they make a clear coat that resembles that satin finish? That would look fricken sweet.. _________________

I've been thinking about the satin clear coat. Just to protect the primer. I've got some VHT primer at home, I'll try to paint something with it and clear it, just to see what it looks like. Should be fun.
The windows must be tinted. I don't like clear windows for everyday driving. I've thought about swapping windows with my V6 car, but that would suck. I'll try to find a satin/soft window tint with low reflective properties. Sun-gard is a good brand. That and lower it. Mean! |
