Has anybody read the September edition of hot rod magazine? They test a truck 5.3 from a junkyard, port the heads, re-gap stock rings, install FAST intake and twin turbo to see how much boost they can throw at it. They ran over 60 dyno runs and most produced over 1000hp. Eventually they stopped at 27 pounds of boost and 1203hp without it grenading on them. They noticed an odd torque curve for a 5.3 so they dropped the bottom only to find it was only a 4.8. _________________ 2010 Cobalt LT

There's a few guys on LS1Tech with bone stock junkyard 4.8 and 5.3 shortblocks running enough boost for single digit quarter miles.
A lot of them can go a full season before putting in a new motor. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

| I JUST read that article. That is insane!! I would never think you could make 1200 hp on a mostly stock motor. Especially without breaking something. |

| I think I know what motor I'll be looking for. Not because I can throw crazy boost at it, but because it sounds damn durable! |

Durability my friends.
We could pour enough boost and nitrous to get just about anything to that HP.......... once. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

This has absolutely nothing to do with anything and I'm too lazy to create a new thread.
There is nothing that can be said to prepare you for what you will see if you follow this link.

Does anyone have a link to the article? Remember that guy with the black TA who threw crazy boost at a stock junkyard 350? He'd just burn them up and got another one.
My question is, what kind of tranny and rear do you get to survive that kind of abuse? _________________ E30
