My motor died a few months ago, wanna ditch the electronic unit and have a slammer like every other hatchback out there...
I'll look around at the J/Y tomorrow but if there isnt one out there, I want to find one fast.

You'll have to remove the whole mounting sheet metal from what I have read in the past. It's not a bolt in bolt out deal.

Yep, my '87 had a working pulldown and my '84 has the factory slammer. I prefer the slammer any day.

Not only is the mounting completely different, so is the trim piece that goes over it all.

its just a matter of putting a couple spot welds on the track where the pulldown motor travels.

The sheetmetal for the latch mechanism is physically different between pre-86 cars and post-86 cars with the PPD unit.

you could cut the section out of an older car and spot weld the whole thing in, but that's really just more trouble than its worth.
