I just bought RSfreak's '89 RS from him for my wife and intend to get her back in shape as a driver for my wife. I hopefully will be able to do a cheapo paint job this summer to make it presentable and maybe install the 350 i have laying around if I can get a rotating assembly and heads for it without draining funds. First order of business does anyone know where I can get a stock bin for a 2.8?

https://jshare.johnshopkins.edu/aschlot1/7302ecm/

Could also hunt around here and see what they have for an LB8 BIN:

ftp://ftp.diy-efi.org/pub/gmecm/

I would also like to point out that the BIN is not only NOT the first order of business with that car, it's right down at the bottom of the list, just slightly above doing this to it. Razz

I just need the bin so I can disable the VATS but I think painting it pink might push it down the list.

Good on the purchase... glad that it stayed in the 'family'.

BTW, if you are looking to do a V8 swap, I still have an LB9 (305 TPI) engine out of my kids car. Has entire engine, harness, computer and MAF.

Asking $500.

Ehh? John disabled the VATS already IIRC. I seem to remember it was drivable with the security light on.

It died on me several times yesterday and refused to crank twice so I bypassed it properly with a resistor. I measured the resistance coming from the lock cylinder with the key in it and it read open. After the install no security light and the car easily made the 90 mile drive home.

Just got home with some engine cleaner, throttlebody cleaner, primer and paint. Tomorrow should have the thing looking nice. The engine seems to run fairly well but hesitates when the accelerator is pushed then smoothes out after a second or two.

I think the hesitation may be from the 3.8 investors that are installed. It produces black carbon clouds on acceleration.

Are those 2.8 injectors in the box any good?

I wasn't aware my car had investors although my cellphone seems to think so...

The ones in the bag are all from 2.8Ls that Aaron and I pulled from Pull-a-Part. The ones in the box are sketchy, not sure they are all 2.8s.

I would not run the ones in the bag that we got from the JY without having them cleaned first. They came from different motors, and some are questionable.

If by the "ones in the box" we are talking about the older set of 2.8 injectors that I previously installed and then removed from that motor, they are junk, do not use them. Turn for cores or something.

The 3.8 injectors ran fine from 2007, when I gave them to John, up to when he stopped using the 89 as his daily driver. Camaros seem to run better when ran on a regular basis. Or any car for that matter of fact. Run some seafoam through the fuel tank and maybe some through the intake (read up on the trick to doing this if you haven't done so before and have a new set of plugs handy). Wink
