Ok so I recently installed a Centerforce dual friction clutch, and after toasting my last clutch i want to make sure this one lasts. I want to know how I can make sure the throwout bearing is letting the clutch engage all the way..if you can understand what i'm saying...i don't really know how to put it. |

You mean when your foot is off the pedal, how to tell if the clutch is fully engaged?
If it's a hydraulic linkage, it is. The pressure plate has way more force pushing back on the TB than the line pressure can hold without you putting your foot on the clutch.
If it's mechanical linkage, you need to adjust it properly. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Fixed.
But he's right, the pressure plate will be fully engaged with your foot off the clutch if it's a hydraulic system. Self-adjusting. Just make sure it's bled right so it disengages correctly. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Yeah that's exactly what I meant. That takes a lot off my mind then thats good. I was just asking because my friend had a centerforce clutch go out in 3 months in his 2007 v6 mustang. He thought it was because it wasn't engaged fully so it was burning...he does drift though so it might be kinda hard on it...or maybe he just rides the clutch when he drives lol |

I had a centerforce on my trans am, lasted about 30K. I just yesterday installed a SPEC clutch, we will have to see how this one lasts. My V6 fire bird has about 50,000 on a spec clutch. _________________ 86' firebird (Junked in 2015). 88' GTA (sold in 2020).

Well thats 10 times longer than my last clutch. If this doesn't work out I'm definitely switching to spec |

Even my spec stage 3 lasted 10k and that's a VERY aggressive clutch. With a bit of drag racing. They weren't highway miles thats for sure.

Yeah IF that. It was only a stock replacement. I also had 2.73's. The 383 didn't help either. Or the two trips to the strip. But its kinda hard not to slip with that crappy combo. |
