Lol, rent it out? I know to rent PIR's road course for a whole day is something in the ballpark of $10k. That's why you see organizations put on track days rather than a few people pooling together. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

| Remember you also might need corner workers, and insurance. I'm not sure how those things work, but either way it is way more $$$ than this little group could come up with. |

| That back road up the gorge was pretty fun. Couple of radios and spotters would be all we need... |

several years ago the custom car club I was in was looking at renting places out for a car show. Every place except a state park required some type of insurance.
Then ontop of the basic building rent. You still had to pay a cleanup crew for inside and out, depending upon size of event, rent a few cops and security guards, concessions, etc.
Its a ton of hassel, you need to plan on having a HUGE event to do something like this. |

| It's about $110 per day here. That includes about 5 hours of driving. |

I have a couple of FRS radio's. Just need a couple more. And that road has no houses on it. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it's pretty dang close!
I think the track days at PR (pacific raceway) is $300. I had the opportunity to go down once but the car was no where close to going. I'll snoop around. If you guys want to do PIR sometime I might be inclined to show up. Even have a set of stickies! _________________ E30

If you're talking about blue89's post above yours, he meant $300 per person. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

I know there's lots of track days @ Portland International Raceway put on by the local Porsche and BMW clubs and they usually allow a certain number of non club members to run laps for a fee. Maybe a few of us should invade their message boards and see if we can get an invite.
If you're interested in learning car control and race etiquette then check out http://www.cascadesportscarclub.org/. These guys have a course you can take that ends w/ you taking your own car out on the track. Might be a good place to start if you wanna attend future track days. _________________ '91 Firebird - LO3, 700R4, 2.73 gears

The Irdc (International race drivers club) will be holding a drivers school/lapping day @pacific raceways, sat april 9th. I am registered and will be running my 91 firebird. If you have never driven a road course, you have to complete 1 driving school before you can go out on track for a regular road course lapping day, unless you have previous road course training from a reputable school. I'm going to the school, I've been autocrossing my firebird for years, but have never run a roadcourse. The cars ready, I'm stoked! Entry is 250 for the school 200 for lapping day drivers. Its comin up soon, anyone interested? Id love to see another thirdgen out! _________________ 1991 Firebird L03 T-5 |

Just did a quick search and came up w/ these:
http://www.bmwacaportland.com/
http://bmworegoncca.com/
I found a few Nissan and Honda forums where people have attended track days put on by these guys and loved it. They are generally open to anybody w/ a car that passes basic safety inspection and a helmet. The downside is that they fill up really quickly and they limit the number of cars. One guy said he was there at 6:30am and ended up being #83 of 85 cars allowed. |
