My GF got into an accident in my T/A. She's ok and nobody was hurt but I have no idea what the damage is yet. She says it's driveable but the cop wouldn't let her drive it cuz the lights broken. I'll update as soon as the tow truck arrives. Sad

Sorry to hear dude. The big thing, is no one was hurt. Cars can be fixed, or replaced. Here's hoping it works out alright for you, and the damage can be mended without too many insurance headaches.

That is a bad situation man. Like others have said, it's only really important that noone got seriously injured. Cars can be rebuilt or replaced, loved ones not so much.

As others, glad shes ok.

Now that pics are posted. It looks like it just barely missed the vital parts. Should beable to fix it. But due to insurance and the way they work.... dont be suprised if they call it totalled.

Doesn't look that bad. Looks like the hood is salvageable. New fender, light pod, and nose can be procured from your local Pull-a-Part. Wink

Hey that doesnt look so bad at all.

Hood can save for sure, new headlight, and inner fender and fender obviously.

New bumper cover, but at least it looks like the bumper and rad support etc. made it
Jobber parts for these cars are cheap now, think its 200 or 250 for a new fender cnd so cheaper still down there.

As for insurance (I am in Canada) assuming that its covered? Dont take the first offer and dont sign anything! lol

If she was at fault and he only has liability on it, he's SOL on a payout. His book is at 3-6K, so they may not try to have it totaled. Car doesn't look like 3K worth of damage to me.

NADA.

Hatch was listed as a $1500 part just by itself, wasn't it?

Ouchie! Glad your lady is okay though. That's the important part.

as everyone indicated, the damage doesn't look too serious. Next time I'm in the yards, I'll keep my eyes peeled for T/A parts.

thanks for the kind words everyone. final result was the guy had no insurance and a suspended license so he got his car impounded but my GF was at fault and I only have liability so we get to spend our Vegas Vacation money on getting it fixed.

I had it towed to the body shop this morning and they're gonna call me w/ an estimate on Monday. Since we are paying out of pocket I'm also gonna have them install my new door hinge pins and rollers. The guy at the shop said it looks worse than it really is and he told me his favorite car of all time was his '79 Trans Am so he will look after "my baby" as he put it. Smile

Well that kinda sucks, but at least it sounds like you found a shop that will take care of your car.

Hopefully the damage isnt to bad $$ wise. Cash jobs can go both ways

The preliminary estimate before teardown is just over $1800. About what I figured it would be.

The bad news is that's a big chunk of our vacation fund; good news is we have the money so it won't mess up our normal finances and the car should be ready end of next week.
