If anyone comes across a good deal on a 3-series 9-bolt rear or has one stuck away somewhere, keep me in mind and help a crewbie out.
I don't wanna blow up my 10-bolt. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

I would quite enjoy breaking your 10-bolt Aaron. Let's do it with your project car... _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Exactly. Put the 9 in after you break the 10. I wish I would have jumped on that rear before you did..

Get a girdle and the only way you'll break the 10bolt is with slicks and a 3000rpm clutch drop. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I might just do that. Only problem is I know at least a few 3-4k clutch drops on drag radials are in my future. 4thgen guys do run these late 10-bolt rears pretty fast however, I might be fine. Maybe I should spend the cash on beefing up the 10-bolt a bit instead of buying a used 9-bolt. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

You wont be fine.
300rwhp at the time.
3k launch with clutch
Each time broken axles. Happened 3 times.
On the third time, I found the Eaton Pinion gear cracked in 3 places.
Launch with an automatic, or street tires - can't hook up enough to hurt it. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |
