i figured it would be that time again to post my recent project
i should have the new motor sometime in january
got injectors on the way, got the cold start injector delete, got all the moates tuning stuff, now im ready to buy the motor,
i took the 305 apart cuz i needed to send some parts to 91rsvert, and while i was at it i decided to find what was wrong...i think i found it
and there is the car with no motor
from the looks of it, it looked like that head either was not torqued all the way or in the wrong order cuz you could see where coolant was moving from the coolant area into the cylinder
no more used engines, new one will be soon, and like the past 2 times ill update things as i go!
anyone want some swirl port heads _________________

| That clean cylinder was the only one leaking. Is that a crack in that head? Looks like one from here.. but unless you flipped the photos its in the wrong cylinder. The rust stain running out of the intake on the adjacent cylinder could mean water was coming in from that intake port too.. That would be the correct cylinder from these pics. |

| The crack appears to be in the third combustion chamber from the right as you look at the picture of the head. It starts near the gasket surface on the top, and runs down vertically between the valves. |

so i was messin around with the auto prom today, and i managed to burn a stock 350 TPI speed density chip. but my next question is if i wanna delete like smog pump ac and egr, how do i do that cuz on tuner pro it has a sliding bar with a percentage type thing, does 0% =off? _________________

Smog pump doesn't need deleted on the MAF chips. Unless something changed when they went to the later chip, you should be fine.
To disable A/C, find the "Disable A/C above coolant temp" flag, and set it to -32*, or whatever the lowest setting is. Then go through and find the "Fan switch with A/C on" flags, and make them the same as the "fan switch with A/C off" ones.
EGR is disabled in a similar fashion, should be under "Disable EGR vs MAT temp" so higher = disabled.
Most of the sliders in TunerPro are not percentages, they are temp, or speed, or engine speed, or something like that.
You found some new heads for that thing yet? |

ok got egr disabled, and the A/C
this is gonna take some time to learn all this stuff! there is so much stuff
i didnt know there was a highway fuel mode lol
i know i will need to datalog and stuff and get the engine running first, but i want to expirament with it now so when the time comes ill have an idea of what to do
but what graphs and information should i look at to begin with?
also got my fuel injectors today _________________

Highway fuel mode is disabled from the factory. Dewey got his dialed, and has some nice mileage numbers for his trouble.
You don't need to be datalogging to start burning chips. I was flying blind for the first few chips I burnt.
The biggest things that I found when I was burning chips for the IROC where:
-Proper injector size (two settings for this, set to the correct # of your injectors).
-Resetting all the temperature stuff for the lower t-stat (car doesn't run right till 200-210*, if you have a 180* stat, it craps it all up).
-Getting rid of the multiple spark tables, and smoothing out the main spark table. It's a lot of work, but you can really see a lot of power and mileage gains here. |

ok cool, and for injectors, i just have stock 350, which IIRC is 21#? or is it 22#?
LOL they would disable that from the factory, im definatly gonna try figureing that mode out
I traded 91rsvert my lt1 cam for 350 injectors, he gave me two sets, the older style with a longer nozzle and the 91-92 multitecs
side note, since everything is out of my engine bay should i paint it glossy black or leave it red? _________________

I've been wanting to compare those parameters in his .bin to mine and see if I can get something close in mileage. RBob has given me a decent lean cruise mode, but I'd like to improve on it somewhat. _________________ 92 Camaro

sounds like things are progressing ..great
as far as painting the engine compt. I would give it a good degrease/pressure wash and call it good...if you want to paint it the rite way, u will have to sand every thing and make sure there is NO-NO grease or oil left---well we all know thats almost impossible...it must be 100% clean and scuffed up(sanded) in order for the apint to stick and LAST..
have those injectors been cleaned and flow matched?? if not , nows the time.
it may not sound like much ,but its all the small details , that if done right, add up to a much smoother running engine...
been there done this -so -just me .02
lookin good keep at it..
