Check this out. I drive by this dealership a couple times a year when visiting my wife's family in Ohio. I know exactly where it is.

Thinking of calling them after the auction end and offering $1200 and parting out what I don't want. Frankly, it might even have a better driver seat than what is in my car (same color too).

Whoa... this isn't where I thought it was. Much longer drive. Still... could factor in cost of travel. I have a barely used car trailer just sitting near the side of my house. All I have to do is hook up and drive.

Look at it... it's a piece of crap. Laughing

This is a used car lot and they need to cut losses and free up some cash for the next purchase. Somehow they were stupid enough to buy a salvage title car and think they could fix it and turn some money. They got part way in to the rebuild and one day everybody looked at each other and said, "OH CRAP! WHAT HAVE WE DONE???" and decided to quit. With a cracked front bumper, multiple color body panels, and air bags still not packed it's not going anywhere soon. My offer is probably better or just as good as the auction block without the hassle. I would expect a counter offer but I wouldn't move much. I'm counting on a business decision, not some private owner who is emotionally attached.

That does seem like a very low ball offer.

Looks to me like a new nose, and some paint and that would be a nice looking car.

It got wrecked on '06 too. So whoever had it was driving it like that, or it was sitting. Worth a shot. Kinda hard on those cars, but if you can get a valve cover off it'll tell you a ton.

I've learned if you don't ask then it will never happen. And I've become shameless with age. Very Happy

I'm more interested in what you guys think of the car. I can work out the offer and negotiation.

It has about 3K more miles than when it was totaled. Title history is provided in the ad.

Let me clarify. I'm not yet saying I'm doing it. What I really want is your opinion on the car and concerns. I don't want to get something I can't use.

Ahh, I see the mileage is provided. I just saw the dates before.

You can use just about every piece on that car. The wheels, tires, the entire interior, engine and trans.

My two cents: I would offer then $3500 cash for the mess out the door (half their asking price, and they eat the tax and BS). That shows them you want to play ball, but doesn't insult them so badly that just tell you to take a hike.

BTW, if you do get it, I would like to discuss the gas tank and driveshaft with you. Very Happy

Id totally take that car, low ball them. They will prob let it go for what they put in it, and installing a QP, rocker and a used door is not really much 2-3k tops.

The front bumper is a easy fix, and quick spray job and shes good, only tricky part is the airbags but even then you can get used ones fairly easily.

I know your looking at it more for parts then as a fixer/upper, so Id say go for it. Pity its a auto and not a T56 though.

If I was in the states Id buy that car for myself as a daily, sell my 330i and fix the TA, drive that for a while then sell it Razz Those are the kind of cars I love Razz

$3500 would be an okay deal. By no means spectacular.

Too bad you're in Il. If you were to get it I would make you and offer for the interior. Sad

DOH!! I looked them up on the internet and all I could find was an auto salvage yard. They're not going to deal because they like junk. I guess this isn't a car dealer after all. This idea is shelved.
