Ha! Wow. Pontiac ahead of the curve there. Or I guess just serving as inspiration. Did some of the guys from the xp833 design team just sidestep into the stingray design team?

Speaking of firebirds, did anyone see that deal on cardomain that they built a camaro and cloned it to look like the prototype for the firebird that was also...never made..

Personally I'm a camaro guy by a long shot, but i gotta say, the would be 5th Gen firebird had alot more going for it.

I have always wondered what the design life and timelines were on the cars in the 60's. There may be a lot of truth to the chevy copying pontiac thing, but in today's world, the design life of a car is long enough, that if pontiac put out a concept today, Chevy could have been working on the design for 5 years already. With 5-8 years total from start to first production line roll, its hard to say where the design came from, maybe Pontiac took the Corvette design, and conceptualized it before chevy released any of the corvette stuff publicly.

My dad had an Opel GT in the mid '70s that looked very similar to that. Pretty badass! Cool

Lingenfelter and Kevin Morgan also built 5thgen T/As, both of which look better than the Firebreather IMO. Wink

Pontiac's overhead cam inline 6 was designed for this car. Delorean wanted a 2 seat personal sports car, and in those days almost all sports cars used inline 6's.

The opel was either modeled off the vette or this as well. I think design time was a bit shorter back then, then today. Every model year used slightly different sheetmetal and seems like they changed the whole car up about every 2 years. 63-4, 65-6, 67-8 impalas or 64-5, 66-7, 68-9, 70, 71-2 chevelles.

Story is that this car and the 68 vette were both designed at the same time ... without either side knowing what the other was building. Seems hard for me to believe that they'd come up with basically the same car!

This car is a bit smaller then a vette too.. probably more like the opel actually. Delorean didnt expect to go head to head with the vette(at least thats what he told gm) hence the 6 cylinder. But the ragtop version did have the pontiac v/8 in it. I see some first gen f-body in the roofline a bit myself.

Frankly.. find it damn sexy.. I'd take one right now.. even with the 6!

firebreather, thank you lol.

thing looks sweet, so does that white one posted up. why couldn't they make one of those instead, i've only seen 1 new camaro around here that looked half way decent, it had a bodykit of some sort on it, and different paintjob.

those 2 have a bit more character. more to look at.

67 horsepower. That's almost twice the power of a 1500 CC 1970 VW beetle.

Wow, makes you wonder if that much raw power was even street legal.
