Already been done. IIRC Lexus had a swerve assist thing, kept you in your lane if the infrared picked up a car next to you when you tried to change. Volvos and expensive Fords parallel park.

Problem is when system like that fail. Then you're well and truly screwed.

Not to mention that this is yet another device that contributes to driving ignorance. Nobody can drive anymore. Plain and simple. Cars are built to remove you from the driving experience, and make it easier to text, eat, screw, and generally be a f***ing moron and do anything but actually operate the two-ton machine you're riding in.

Well, I was actually looking more at the humor in the video. Thought it was quite funny when he repeated "Sorry" to the Reaper after recomposing himself from the near miss.

Only in America. Very Happy

Drive somewhere else and you'll see that it takes all your attention just to stay alive.

How does the car know the road conditions, texture, and grip of whatever brand tire you have to stop you in time?

Another gimmic to sell cars.

Except LSD. Those people know how to drive in Chicago! Like they are in the 24 Hours of Le Mans or something.

Top Gear tested this Mercedes and from what I saw (briefly) it actually stopped itself in normal traffic (actually uses radar to detect the cars in front of you and matches their speed). I'm not sure about this "sensing danger" nonsense.

Where's the video?

Beauty is... if it was a Volvo Truck.... the other truck would have crapped its pants and gotten out of the way.

Seems the automatic wiper system also overreacted. Razz

If you're to lazy to press the brake pedal, you're sure as s**t to lazy to turn a knob for wipers.

My father inlaw figured out the automatic wipers the hard way. Took the neighbors caddy through a car wash.. yup.. they turned on.. and got wrapped in one of the brushes!
