While i was at the Portland Rod and Custom show i was talking to a guy from Portland Community College about their auto program. That got me thinking bout swapping out from down here to up there. I would like your guys' opinion on the school if you have one, I dont know much just what the guy told me, and what the living situation is up there aka appartment rentel cost and everything else or even if anyone up is looking for a room or housemate.

The reason why I'm even thinking about this is because this school here in Salem is so full you really cant get one on one time with the instructer, which is hurting my learning experience. Just the way this place is beeing run is getting old, so many fubared classes, and a biggie for me is that here they dont even have a real auto body program but at PCC they do.

I am looking for a house mate. I am in Hillsboro about 20 minutes from the PCC Rock Creek campus. (where the auto program is, I think).

and I have a garage with tools. Very Happy

The Rock Creek campus is where the auto body program is. The automotive program is at the Sylvania campus. With that said, I know and have known several people that have gone the the automotive program. It is very good from what I've heard and researched. There is plenty of one on one time and you learn a lot. I've had a competition there before and I really like their shop. It's bigger and in some cases more up to date than even Carr Chevrolet, which is the dealership that I work at. If you're thinking about taking the class you should talk to Derek (fiveoformula) as he is currently enrolled in it.

I have nothing but good things to say abou the program, Im about half-way through. everything that you do know gets refined, you learn proper diagnosis of systems and usually 10 different ways to diagnose a single part. At the end of each "mod" you do real-world fixes on customer cars and write work orders and everything, all while under supervision. But thats just the auto-tech course, Im not in the auto-body, atleast not yet. Wink

Thats part of my thing to i kinda wanna do both. I'm thinking about doing body work for a living and everything else for hobby. Here at Chemekata your licensed to do bodywork without doing any real bodywork, and thats not sitting well with me. So how far away is the mech campus from hillboro?

I live in Hillsboro too. It's about a 25 minute drive, the sylvania campus is technically Portland but its on the border of Tigard.
