first off when i first got my camaro from my sister a couple years ago it had really bad oil pressure. it was almost always down in the red and alot of times didnt register any pressure so i always just figured the gauge didnt work. and the first few oil changes i just uses some random oil and filter but the last few changed iv used valvoline max life high milage oil and i also started adding restore oil additive and each time i change the oil the pressure get higher and higher. i just changed the oil to day and now its at about 24-26psi warmed up in park and 15-17psi in drive so i was just wondering what is a good heathly oil pressure for a 305. is that about right?
second this one is kinda of stupid but when my sister had the car she got ran off the road and blew out a tire (brand new to ) and the tire that the place she went to put on was not the same as the others. and after a year of my sisters "parallel parking" you couldnt read anything on the side so i never knew what the air pressure should be ( i figured the same as the rest,35 psi) so i always just put the same in it but today when i was changing the oil i noticed on the inside of the tire under the car i could read it. and it says it should be at 44 psi. witch would probley explain why that tire is considerably more worn on the out edge then the other front. so im assuming it should be at 44 but just wanted to check cause i wasn't sure if having 2 different tire pressures in the front would affect anything. _________________

Stock gauges aren't worth beans. That said, if an oil change affects the reading, the pressure was probably low.
Newer tires run at 44psi max. Older ones run at 36psi. Preferably you run all four the same. For sure you want pressure to be the same across the axles.
Running a newer tire at 35psi like you were shouldn't cause excess wear on the edges of the tread. I would look at an alignment issue first. |
