This was the engine that was going in my T/A until we found out it was a 307. It may be good as a core to be rebuilt, but it has been out in the elements for a while so there is quite a bit of rust on it.

heads are a little rusty, but we painted it early on and it does have the intake manifold on it, so not that bad

Quite a bit of water probably got into the open manifold, the intake runners, and the open valves into the cylinders. I just don't wanna misrepresent this engine. Wink

will the crank rotate freely, or have you tried recently?

Pour a little diesel or ATF down it tonight, then try it tomorrow. You'll have better luck.

the wheel that the engine is sitting on is keeping the crank from turning

I think I may have a truck to bring up and grab this. Basically what I'm interested in is the crank and possibly the rods. Realistically, I'll probably scrap the rest.

I would think a 307 would make a fine little flower pot.

I would at least hold a few more flowers than a 305. Flowers don't give a shizzle about stroke. Laughing

Their all about the bore!!

307 with 416 heads cut for 1.94" valves
XE262 cam
decent intake / carb / exhaust

easy 250 hp at the crank

I'd say easy 250 at the wheels.

ehhh, I don't see that. That takes 1 per inch and those 416's aren't going to cut it there.

Well when stock 305s with decent stock cams put out 225 on the ground... I dont see why some decent 416s with bigger valves, and a performance cam couldn't squeek out 25hp without a sweat.

Torque would be down, hp up from a 305. Same cubes but alot less valve shrouding then the 305. I think it would make an interesting tpi experiment.
