.... there has been no snow and ice in my driveway. The cold weather finally broke and it's been warm enough for a few days to finally melt the snow and ice. Like I told my wife, what's the point of shoveling snow? It will go away eventually.
And another piece of news is that the Jeep Cherokee is now a rust bucket. It has the beginning stages of body cancer. Underbody is still in great shape but the doors and roof are rotting from the inside out. There's a rust hole on the roof and I figure in 2 years it will have obvious rust spots on the doors. Did I mention that it's just a 2000 model? Isn't the midwest wonderful???? |

How did that logic work out for you?
Always a shocker for me when I see a midwest car around here. Having grown up in the PNW I sort of take it for granted that car bodies will last fifty or sixty years.
John's answer in the other topic was only half-right. After you fly back up here and buy a cheap, rust-free Jeep, you should then buy a house and trailer your Firebird back. Makes everything so much easier. |

Well, since she didn't fall on her butt it worked out just fine..... this year.
I'm pretty much the only person in the neighborhood that doesn't shovel snow. My neighbors chose to spend their money on unreliable snow blowers and I chose to have a lifted Jeep and a Subaru. Most other people have regular cars or 2WD trucks. Problem is, when the snow plow comes through it drops piles of big snow chunks in front of every driveway. The snow blowers can't process that. If my neighbors want to leave then they have no choice but to shovel. I just ram it down with the 1/4" steel bumper on the Jeep and then the Subaru can get through afterwards (the Forester has pretty decent ground clearance). Neighbors stare at me out of disgust and jealousy all at the same time.
I was the redneck of the neighborhood until last year when some people came in from Oklahoma.... with four RX7's..... and only 1 runs.... 1 is on blocks with no wheels.... and they are all parked outside in front of the house. You can appreciate this more if you know that I'm in a yuppie neighborhood. I've never seen anybody on my street do an oil change or have the hood open on their vehicle. They think working on the car is giving it a wash and wax. Most garage doors are left open half the time because the garage is sterile and there are no tools to steal. The first thing I did when I moved in was build 20-feet of floor to ceiling shelves, and I still don't know where to put all my stuff. And when I did that I had two neighbors come over because they were amazed that I was constructing shelves by myself. It blew their minds when I dug my own post holes and built a fence. I didn't tell them that the powered post hole digger wasn't rented and that I owned it. |
