You guys have any clever ways you've stored your spare axles? I have two in my garage at the moment that I'd like to keep around. Unfortunately they take up a bit of space. Any suggestions?

You talking about axle shafts, or the entire rear axle assembly?

The entire housing. I have a 10-bolt and a 9-bolt that I want to keep.

Built a couple "X" stands out of 2x4 lumber. Support it by the axle tubes and place one axle over the other. Box in the X for strength.

I had two 8" Ford rears I stored at one point. One was my dad's, one was mine.

Drain all the fluids out, stand them vertically with rims/tires attached. corners of the garage are good. I had to spend a day re-arranging things to make it work.

just a thought.

I was thinking of something like x-frames or something racky. I moved them over to another spot in my garage and put them up on blocks. I'm thinking of putting blocks on top of them and then making a short bench top on top of that. Then it won't be totally wasted space cause I can use the space for work or storing.

looks like the brakes on those things are the biggest problem of taking up space. I'll let you store the brake calipers and rotors at my place and it will save you tons of space.

Lol, just got the rest of the stuff for the 12" LSx front brake swap to match my LT1 11.5" rear setup. I have a 9 bolt brake setup I could pawn off if someone wanted it.

I still make it happen. It is fun punching it from highway rolls and spinning tires though.

Here's what I ended up doing. Got some 2x4's laid on top. Then cut a piece of plywood over the top of it to make a bench out of it. With the axles overlapping the input shafts you'd never know there were two in there. The plywood sits on the 2x4's, the center housing, and the disk brakes well enough that I can sit on it without it moving.

Lol, ya, a bench to put stuff on, not to work off of. I'm 6'3" so it's about good to sit on but that's about it. I'm just happy it isn't wasted space and I have more room for cars now.

You're made a bench out of car parts and wood stacked in a pile? Redneck. Laughing

Just build a proper bench with enough space to fit the axles between the legs. It's a couple 2x4's and some nails.
