During my head swap, I know for a fact my o2 sensor got coolent spilled on it.
I thought I read along time ago that touching the tip of the sensor with your hands would cause a bad reading. I am assuming coolent on it would do the same?
Trying to redo my tune, and my left/right readings are way off, even after re-tightening my exhaust. New injectors, hitting even on my compression, new plugs. Only thing I can think of is my sensors? |

Pretty sure the sensor is safe to touch. The metal casing protects the crystal inside. Not sure if spilling coolant on it would be a great thing though. What readings are you getting from it? _________________ E30

| Are you running heated sensors? The single-wire GM's cost like $15 apiece if you get the NGK/NTK brand (screw Bosch). Might be worth tossing a new one on just to test it. |

Wha?! Are they not the standard weatherpack'd 3 pin heated ones? I could see 90 bucks for the pair for some Denso or NTK ones. You going with delco or something? _________________

No, Bosch 4 wire. Lemme go look for part number.
:edit: I think its Bosch 13027, 75.99 each plus about 12-13% tax. |

Well there's your problem right there!!!
Bosch = teh suck.
I went through several sets of Bosch spark plugs, and five Bosch O2 sensors before I swore their products off forever.
Even their drillbits suck. |

| Pull both sensors and switch positions. Then see if the readings are still off the same way. |

You'd think the creator of the O2 sensor would have it figured out.
I haven't been impressed with Bosch stuff either.
At work we only use OEM brand sensors. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Bosch is OEM for a boat-load of cars. |

Which is unfortunate, however, those OEM scenarios are setup for just that. IT really seems to be the longevity and aftermarket calibration from bosch. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

What I think it is, is that the different manufactures get slightly different voltage curves and reactions when they build their stuff. For example, the Audi will littertly spit out engine sensors that aren't Bosch, just like our cars will not play nice with Bosch stuff.
I don't think it is a quality issue, I think it is just a matter of Bosch parts being slightly different, so they don't react as well in cars not designed around them.
Toss an NGK sensor in a car that had bosch orignaly, and I bet you would come to the conclusion that NGK is junk too. |

This may well be true. I was averaging 500 miles with the Bosch O2's in the IROC before they went max rich and died. If anyone in the Crew had a running Audi maybe we could test it.

Iteresting on the bits.
So do we think I need to get a different sensor? Delco, bosch, w/e?
If I go with delco, I need to get 2 (OUCH) |

| I would start with Rodneys suggestion, of switching the sensors, to see how they read when you have switched them to a different bank. |

I bought a 3 wire sensor and a connector to go with it. I removed the old connector and installed the 3-wire in its place. It has a sense wire (connected to the harness where the other connector was) and two others for the heater, I hooked one to a convenient key-on 12V from one of the relays by the brake booster and the other to ground. Both heater wires are the same color and doesn't matter which way they're connected. _________________ 92 Camaro
