Well one project done! almost.. The 74 GMC is on the road! Just needs a few more minor things. Alignment/spray paint etc.. but its basically all done. Drove it around a bit today, even hauled the trash up to the top of the mountain with it. So far so good.
Now that its out of the barn, I cleaned up shop a bit. Hauled all the spare bits and pieces out with the tractor. Then drug in the next project in line. Those that have been here have seen the old yellow stepside. I hoisted it up with the tractor and drug her to the barn today. Going to strip the body off of it. Then put the gmc's old half ton suspension under it. That way it'll have 5 lug discs and a 12 bolt rear. Then I'll install the 454/th400 and see what I can find for body panels!
Funny thing, was setting it down on jackstands cause theres no rear end under it.. Here's a little mouse running the length of the exhaust system. Hope the stupid stray barn cat finds it, before it finds my formula!
Speaking of the formula, havent decided whether its next after the stepside, or if I'll finish the velle... Good thing bout having the formula is i'm itching to get started on it. Makes me keep going on these other projects! |

Get the velle out of there... so you can have a project and better space to do it and our projects!
Thought you were turning the GMC into the daily? 454 in the Stepside? Planning on selling either? What about the 70?! |

Which rigs you talkin bout Paul? I've got 2 gmc's.. and 2 70's... and 2 74's..
I've offered to let my brother by the blue 70 back. It was his first rig. Not sure if that'll happen or not yet. But plan is to drive the 74 3/4 ton gmc. The 70 gmc stepside will be the 454/th400/12 bolt rig. Going to talk to my other brother today, he has a decent 70 chevy front clip I can put on it. Theres a cab on the island I need to go pickup as well.. That just leaves me with finding a bed, cause I allready have doors and tailgate. Main reason for starting on the stepside is that the barns full of 1/2 ton suspension parts! I've gotta get them on something cause I cant leave them outside for very long or they wont be any good. |
