Santa was good to me and I now have a SIRIUS Sportster V Satellite receiver. Instead of using the cigarette lighter for power (the supplied cigarette lighter plug has to be used as it steps 12V down to 5V), I wired a socket in behind the radio and connected it to key-on power, maybe I'll find something like antenna power later. I used the aux input adapter that I put in a couple of months ago to input the audio, it's also behind the radio now. Now plans are to amplify the system with this head unit using line level converters to the amp, then put some kind of woofers in the sail panels.

Here's how it came out...

The mounting is temporary for now with velcro, I didn't like the winshield mount or the vent duct mount (only choices), so I'll make a bracket to mount where it is now with a couple of screws.

Very nice Al. We had the older setup similar to that in the formy, then moved it to debs yota when I put HD radio in the formy. I still kind of wish I had sat radio in my truck too. But I'd really rather have a built in unit like my kenwood was then an add on like that. I need to figure a better install on her yota sometime. Used the suction cup to the window thingy.. which has died now. Her dash really isnt too friendly for putting it anywhere.

Thats the same way I have my sat radio wired and installed. I thought about putting screws in too, but didn't like the idea of holes in the panel. Like Brandon said I'd like to get a deck that has satellite built in that way I could eliminate the receiver altogether and not have holes in there.

Except for this add-on receiver, everything is to look stock, at least as much as possible. I'm thinking some 1" angle stock aluminum, or even some ABS bent to right angle may do the trick. Even after installing an amp, the plan is to look as stock as possible.

LMAO. Had actually typed out 'That is Ian' but decided not to jack. Should have gone with first instinct.

And Al, I like the receiver. With the wires tucked away it could pass for a factory option. Good job.

I remember seeing a Camaro back in the day on TGO that had a screen put in above the HVAC controls. Owner used a spare radio bezel and framed it in. Looked factory, DVD player was put in place of the vents I think? I want to say the guys screen name was Jim85iroc or something? Man I have a horrible memory.

I've seen that one on TGO. I've read quite a few of his posts in the audio forum, he has alot of good info.

As for this one, only the dock is going in a bit more permanent, I may get another for in the house - maybe...

Yes, red IROC I think. Looked sweet! I'll try to find pics.

EDIT: OK, found him. Small pic, gotta go to his cardomain site for more and bigger pics.
