Meh. Truck wasn't stuck. He was spinning on slush. Roo just rolled him forward enough that he got some pavement.
Little car behind the truck just drove right through it.
BTW, if there hadn't been any traffic behind it, that truck could probably have gotten un-"stuck" just by rolling back a little, and then popping the clutch. |

Man, your clueless!
You only pop the clutch once, then you'll go get a new driveline.
That Scoobie gets credit for pulling the truck in my book |

I've had to roll back and retry a few icy hills in RWD stick cars, although not while hauling anything that big.
Rod, you drive a semi in the snow for a living, so you would know. |

yep all he needed was a little extra push, or in this case pull. He was just spinning on the slush, happens all the time. Happened to me a few times too. If he could have rolled backwards he could have gotten a running start at that little hill. Stopping on hills is absolute death for a truck on roads like that. I once had to roll backwards down I-5 exit 77 on the north bound side, all the way to the freeway, because the light at the top was red TWICE!!!!! third time the light was still red but no one was looking sooo....
Trucks are essentially one wheel drive, not just one axle but one wheel on that axle is driven, Get that one off the ground or stuck in a hole, or on slick ground and its all over. They do have a power divider, that will lock the two "drive" axles together, but still they are geometrically in the same place on the vehicle. That means that if the one drive wheel is stuck in a pot hole, or high centered etc. you can probably drive right out of it, but if you're stuck on slushy snowy icy stuff like this guy all four wheels are spinning together with none pushing or pulling. That was this guys problem, if his steer tires were driven, like a 4wd then he may have been able to drive right out. The Subaru just provided the driven steer axle for the truck
Still a cool video that gives the subaru forums some bragging rights. _________________ Killing mailboxes since 2009 |

Lol. I wonder who had the balls to say the idea out loud of pulling a semi with a Subaru. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

I'll give the Subaru credit for helping a truck get moving on a flat road with poor traction. Could the Subaru pull the truck if it was actually stuck? No.
I once saw a Class 8 truck spinning wheels at a truck stop. I offered to give the guy a tug with my Dodge Dakota thinking it would be just enough to get rolling. The driver just looked at me like I was an idiot and shook his head "no". |
