Hey all it certainly has been awhile since I've been active on here at all. Anyways I finally want to get to repairing the wiring on my Firebird along with prepping for the engine swap.

I'm looking for anyone that has experience in this area. My harness went up in smoke near the fuse block. It looks like a single wire was shorted and melted through the insulation causing further shorts and went up from there. I don't think it's going to be too hard to fix I just want to do a long lasting repair.

Furthermore my 305 TPI is ready to be installed pending the arrival of the new heads and I have yet to setup the fuel system and wire in the sensor and route the wires to the cluster for the new cluster with electronic speedometer. I have the drawings for how to retrofit this cluster onto an older f-body or really any vehicle.

I'm currently in the Poulsbo, WA area and any body that can help would be awesome. I don't have the world to offer but I'm sure we can come to some sort of arrangement.

Hit me up if you're interested. Thanks.

Little far for me, but I can give you one piece of advice: Solder all your connections. If you have to make a splice solder it neatly and use heat shrink on it.

Even then sometimes I run some electrical tape around it on fatter wires just as added protection. Sometimes after soldering there is a sharp spot where the end of the wire didn't lay flat. Use some pliars and crush it flat.

Take your time!

I can trace signals, still do for work. Car electronics can be frustrating sometimes but I'd be willing to offer some help. And I'm not too far away, in Bremerton. Most weekends are free. Let me know.

I've done my fair share of wiring. If you guys end up meeting up, let me know and I'll try to head out there to lend a hand. Smile

I've got no problem with Saturday/Sunday. I might need to do some last minute shopping on one of those days, otherwise wide open.

Sorry I never got back to ya. Work has been insane recently and I haven't been able to plan around anything. Anyways I spent the morning replacing sections of wiring and soldering new connectors. As it turns out the cruise control system started the whole mess, but I'm not sure exactly what component. For the time being the cruise control has been removed and I pulled its harness out. At least I can drive the beast again. I'll have plenty of work to do on it soon enough with the TPI install. On a side note she got an adjustable Spohn wonder-bar for Christmas from my dad. I'll hopefully install it Sunday after I get home from duty.

Good deal, that should tighten the steering up a little. I have a stock bar on my 92 V6 car and a UMI piece on the 89.

I'm free all next week if you need a hand with any more wiring.
