Our current stereo shorts out, doesn't play cds, and is just plain old (from mid-90s). All we get is a static-filled radio reception.
Does anyone have a decent stereo that has MP3/iPod hook-up? |

yes its Sony, but my blue car has blown speakers and stock radio,
I am not going to spend money on another stereo system, that's the only reason I looked at it. _________________ -Donald

Get some used stuff. Hell, I've found better stuff than Sony in the junkyard.
Can you wire your own? |

I always hear Sony is shat but I've been rocking the same Sony HDD deck for almost ten years. _________________

| I honestly have never used old Sony, so I would not presume to dump on them. New Sony is some shat though. Right down there with the Dual, Jensen, Kenwood, crapola. |

I think you need to rethink the Kenwood statement. I have a Kenwood Excelon I bought 5 years ago and it's fantastic. I upgraded my system with new wiring, alpine amp, pioneer speakers, and ordered my excellon. So until the excellon arrived I used a Jensen unit I had with the new amp and speakers. I was extremely disapointed in how it sounded. I was totally regretting spending all the $$$, then the excellon unit arrived. I installed it and it was pure audio bliss for me. And five years later it's still performing perfectly.
Hopefully shortly I'm replacing my 5 year old head unit with a new 993 excelon with the USB and bluetooth features. _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

The older Kenwoods that I have used have all been total junk. I have never run any of the 'Excelon' stuff tho. |

normally i'm not one to chime in.. but alpine and kenwood is all i use, my old truck has a kenwood deck with tape player, date on it was mid 90's if i remember right, dang think still works. and my camaro also has kenwood, i paid $170 for it at best buy installed it myself and it's got all the goodie right on it.. if your intrested, i have an alpine deck from 2001 i'd be willing to sell. i'll dig it out if you'd like.
it's in good shape, only reason i changed it out was because i wanted somthing with usb so i could hook up an mp3 player. |
