Sure will. Use the steel shim 1094 felpro gasket with copper coat on both sides.

Are you carbed? Or do you tune?

Sure have come down in price. Don't know anything about the brand. Personally I'd stick with Brodix, Dart, AFR, or Stock built.

Guess I should lower the price on the ported stockers I just built!

They look similar to the Pro Toplines I've got that I paid $900 for. Then promptly put $550 in after 4000miles cause the guides were shot and there was a crack in them. Then promptly put another couple hundred in them cause the regrind was bad!

Sigh. Could have a nice set of AFRs.

I'll never buy a set of assembled heads again. If I do I'll have a trusted machine shop check them out!

unfortunately i have a tight budget right now and i've had to put some things on hold for the car...but i really could use some better heads and a new exhaust...i know everyone says to save up and get a good set of heads...but my motor so mild right now it really wouldn't be worth a good high end set of heads...plus i later plan to stroke it to a 383...i asked this guy for pictures and casting numbers...so ill see what he says when he txts me back...he says they ran when he took them off but they could be cleaned up and possibly rebuilt...how much you think it would cost to rebuild a stock set of vortecs??

Depends on what you mean by "rebuild" And how much lift you wanna run. A good set of heads will help you now and later. Spend once.

If you're talking valve job it's $150.
Surfacing is like $100 for the pair.

If you need seals, springs, etc the cost goes up from there.

Thats why I priced the heads I did accordingly. Figure Valve job $150, surface $100, seals $30-50, stainless valves $75, aftermarket springs $50-90, aftermarket retainers, keepers $40-50, cut it down for more lift is $50-75, machine it for screw in studs and guide plates is another $150, PLUS the cost of the heads themselves!

Think of it this way, the 370 horse LT1 Corvettes in the early 70s were high compression, crappy cam, decent heads. Vortecs will do better, ported big valved stockers will do better yet, then aftermarket iron (dart, patriot, world), then aftermarket aluminum.

Stock Vortec's will get you to about 380 HP. A buddy of mine bought a 1998 Vortec 350 out of an Escalade with 8K miles, yanked the cam and intake, installed a baby GMPP cam and intake and put down 290 RWHP. He has since added MSD, 3.73 gears, Holley carb and different intake and is pulling high twelves with a 69 Nova. Vortecs are a great bang for the buck if you want to run high twelves. If you had to pay more than 200.00 for a set I would suggest buying a new set that can handle lift over .500.

I beg to differ DLP. The pro heads I've got are a vortec chamber design, but much larger, and I'm only running high 12's.... 109 MPH and 330 RWHP
