What's with Buick port holes being placed on everything?

Over the last couple months I've noticed something. Kids putting Buick port holes on Hondas, S10 pickups, and whatever else they drive. Besides the obvious theft problem of Buick emblems, what is with this new trend? It doesn't even look good on a Buick let alone be the only piece of chrome on a Civic.

That trend is somewhere down on the list between 22 inch rims, shocker stickers, and Type-R badges.

BTW, the last Buick to look good with round portholes was the 1957, although I do sort of like some of the square 70's ones.

I recently saw a Caprice with 20 some odd inch rims. Looked ridiculous. The car was so high off the ground it resembled a lift kit. It's all I can do from rolling down the window and saying, "Lower your damn car!"

Funny because just the other day I saw a mid-90's Caddy Seville that some dingus had stuck portholes onto. I wondered if they realized that in GM hierarchy the Cadillac is a much classier car. Laughing

I was always under the impression that the port holes = cylinder number. 4 holes a side = v8. Why do all these civics, trucks, caprices, whatever run with just 3 a side no matter the engine size?

Ive noticed that around here for about a year. Along with other styles of "vents". They sell them in packs of 3 or 4 IIRC.

We have a mid 80's caprice around here that is candy yellow, on 26" rims. It looks like a 4x4.

Wouldn't four on one side and none on the other make even more sense?

No wait, that'd be even more stupid. Laughing

So I wonder what will be the next hot trend for imports. Estate wagon wood siding? They already did white wall tires when I was a teenager.

I have seen the fake " portholes " on everything from a Honda to an Escalade. Schucks must be pushing em.

QWK, you are on to something, vynil wood veneers, horrible smelling vynil interior with chrome emblems that burn the midle of your back, hub caps that fly off in corners, roof racks, hoods longer than a Accord, pastel colors etc, maybe they are coming back?

I doubt if any of the kids doing this now have ever really seen a real "4 hole Buick".

I just saw an SN95 mustang the other day with these things on the fenders. Came complete with altezza and a driver of a certain decent.
