When I shut the throttle after a hard wot pull the exhaust backfires loudly. During normal engine braking it's loud and poppy but doesn't backfire. Is there a way to fix this? I'm not sure where to start on this.

More timing, lean out the carb.

Carbs don't have "Decel fuel cutoff" lol

I do have exhaust leaks. I still haven't put in the gaskets anywhere Embarassed I'll put those on and see if it helps. My o2 sensor quit working so I'm not sure where my A/F is at WOT. Guess I better learn how to read spark plugs?

fixing the leaks should help. THe extra 02 in the system, combined with unburt fuel will certainly pop.

I say go with it, real cars shoot 3' flames out the exaust on the over-run. Wink
