Last night I got off early so I decided to make a few runs down the drag strip. Previously my quickest ET was a 15.454 @ 88.97 MPH with a 2.18x 60' time. This was last fall in very cold air and very low humidity. My car then a a new tune up, less than 1/8 tank of fuel, and absolutely nothing in my car including the rear seats.

Last night I managed to run better than that on all four runs. the best being a 15.363 @ 88.70mph with a 2.197 60' time. I was shocked. my car desperately needs a tune up, had a full tank of gas, the rear seats were in and I had a bunch of junk in the car. Not to mention the air was not as optimal as last time. I wonder how I managed to knock off nearly a whole tenth when nothing was in my favor? Oh a just for the record my best reaction time was an .027 Very Happy

Now to see what kind of improvement my headers and Y-pipe will make. Twisted Evil

I mustered a 15.2 with a 2.0 60ft in my old '85 Maro. I bet you could do it!

I'm sure I could pull that off if I could pull a better 60' time. I think I would need either a stall, or better gears. On my launch, I stall up the converter a bit then just go full throttle without a hint of wheel spin. I've tried flashing the converter but the engine stumbles off idle.

Wish I could say the same! Guess it's just the consequence of Wrong Wheel Drive Laughing

I think an honorable mention should go out to Derek as well. He finally broke into the 15's with a 15.909 @ 84.95mph

What's your theory on that Chris?

MPH is indicative of power.... His ET will change.

the car ran worse, the air was worse, the car weighed more.... had a full tank.

well, the rear weight may have helped traction. but honestly, it sounds like the biggest change was time. a year went by and you have gotten better at driving. the car may be getting less kick ass, but you sir are getting more kick ass enough to compensate for it.

it's not all about the machine. Thumbs up

Congrats Derek!!! I know with a tune and 3.73's you'll be itching at 14's.

The headers and Y pipe have scared the carbon out of the factory cast iron boat anchors lol.
Headers and cat back should net a tenth or two. When my 87 was basicly stock (305) it ran a 15.03 @ 93.?? mph with just a set of headers, cat back and MSD ignition parts. This was with all of the interior in place, spare, jack, etc.

I'll mostly be happy that I won't need to shift into third right before the finish line. Laughing I think it will make all the difference right off the line too.
