The box my carrier came is has a note on the inside cover about special bearings required.
Part numbers 19557-010 and 19559-010 (mine is the second) require special bearings. for axles with small bearing bores (race OD of 2.89") require bearing LM-102949 and race LM-102911. Axles with large bearing bores (race OD of 3.06") require bearing LM-603049 and race LM-603012.
Also noted is that small bores are usually pre 1999, large bores are 1999 and after. Apparently mine would be a small bore since the rear end came from a 1982 T/A.
How many do I need? A set for each axle? Do they need to be special ordered?
Almost ready to get this project started. My axle shafts arrived today, along with bearings, seals and wheel studs. _________________ 92 Camaro

| I recognize the 102949 number as a common #. I'm not sure why the carrier is talking about axle bore size. Unless it's talking about where the carrier side bearings ride in the axle housing. Did you get an install kit? or are you buying the bearings piece meal? If you have a kit, look at the #s of the 2 bearings that are identical. They may be the ones they are talking about. |

I haven't got an install kit for this yet. Only the carrier, just making sure I get the right parts before getting started. I have the bearing and race for the ring & pinion as well as the crush collar, they came with the set. These for the differential are apparently the side bearings, which I don't have just yet. Looks like I need an install kit as well - thanks for the info |

| If you allready have pinion bearings then just get the side bearings. I'm betting thats what they're talking about on the carrier box. |
