Gates open at 7am, racing starts at 9. I'm probably going to be there, Aaron says he's going. _________________ 92 Camaro

Me and my girl went yesterday. There were a few badasss thirdgens in attendance, including Izcain's. We saw him make two great runs but he was DQ'd for an early jump on the second one. I hope to have some pictures posted by tonight. Two 4thgens, a Z28 and Trans Am battled each other in the top 8. The Z had a 383 cid LS with a turbo but lost to the T/A which had nitrious but I don't know what else. There was a sweet wheel-standing C4 'Vette in the final two, but he lost to a '70 Chevelle. There was alot of filler between rounds (semi-truck racing and such) that I could have done without, but we still had a blast. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Were you up in the grandstands someplace John? I spent most of the time on the fence behind the burnout box. Best seat in the house, except you gotta stand. It was a really good place to be for the jet cars. |

Nice. That was about where Al was taking pictures.
BTW, that T/A that made top-four was pretty nice. I was standing right behind where they had him parked. He had full interior and everything. Fuel cell was in the cargo well, and he had a full cage.
The Chevelle that had starter trouble must have been either flooded, or heat soaked, because I didn't see them do anything to the car before it fired.
*edit: lol Al ninja'd me. Some good pics, man.
On the pic of the launch are you sure his arms are on the downswing, or coming back up? From my view it did look like a jump (sorry, Zac).

In the drivers meeting he said "If I move my head or arm, or any part of me flinches after my arms are up YOU GO!" I did exactly as he asked since I watched him flinch and his head start to move. I talked with Kail Christensen and he agreed with the photo Al took but said there was nothing that they could do since the 16 were all picked out.
Either way I had a great time! I just wished that they wouldn't tell the racers that is he moves to go since obviously he is only wanting people to leave on the drop of the arm. _________________

Maybe, but I started shooting as his arms went down at 3 frames per second. The very next shot has his arms in almost the same spot and the GTO is back on the ground.
I just noticed on the Vette, the decal on the underside of the nose! The only way you can read it is if the car is doing a wheelie on launch |

I took my dad there Saturday and had a good time. Met izcain and his Z28 just a few mins before his qualifying run. You could probably hear me booing his DQ call. Anyways I had fun and now I'm trying to convice my dad to get his C4 to wheelie like that.
We want to start on our Z and get it into condition for that but I have to get the tranny working right on the bird first.
