I have new ring and pinion (3.73), new Eaton carrier, and axles on the way. Ring and pinion have the bearings and seals with it, but I understand that there is a shim kit which is used to properly set the gears, I didn't see one with the gear set. My axles will have the studs, bearings and seals when they arrive on Monday. _________________ 92 Camaro

I think if you go to pretty much any good parts store, they should have shims. _________________

Think I've got a bunch of shims yet. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Cool, then after Monday I'll have everything I need (minus a diff cover - I can do later). Just need a convenient weekend to work on it |

If you're coming down for the cruise on Sunday and don't happen to have a dial indicator for setting backlash, you can borrow mine. _________________

Don't think I'll make the cruise. Going to try to make Pinks! tomorrow. Thanks for the offer, but not doing this on my own this time. This is a first for me and for this type of project, I'm a show me type - I learn better that way |

I've got access to a pinion depth gauge too. Don't know if it fits our old 10 bolts but we can sure try. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I picked up the side bearings for the posi today. Wasn't 100% positive on which set of the ones Eaton specified that I need, so I picked up a set of both. I asked before getting them if I could return the set I don't use. Now, except for special tools, I think I have everything I need, except for a convenient weekend |
