Drums suck. Mine hardly do anything in terms of braking performance and recently my RR Brake cylinder started leaking. I also need to do a brake tune up anyway. I know it would be a quick, cheap and easy fix, but the thought of fixing drum brakes just seems like a bit of an oxymoron to me.

So the question is: What all is entailed in swapping a drum setup from an '85 10 bolt to a disc setup; either 1LE, PBR or standard iron?

There is an FAQ on TGO that explains it. Really easy to do but you'll have to get the rotors, calipers, abutment brackets, and maybe a thin spacer. Worth it though, I upgraded to LT1 rears. Biggest pain was the ebrake cable stuff but I think I did it the hard way.

I just flat replaced the whole rear axle on mine, so I think I went the "easy way". I had problems finding the correct cables because they got damaged in removal.

My ebrake still doesnt work for crap. Dunno whats up with it.

Easier to just swap to a rearend that has what you want. I personally have a '99 Camaro SS posi disc rear in my car.

I still got my 3.73 Disc rear.

I'm open to reasonable offers. It's seriously just sitting on an old piece of carpet in the basement.

How soon are you looking to swap? If chris' axle doesn't work out, I'll be pulling the disc backing plates off my axle here in the next few months to finally upgrade the rear brakes as well.

I am looking to do this immediately. Brake fluid starts getting expensive after going through a few bottles.

Chris, what condition is it in? It's a posi, disc, 3.73 rear? If so how much and when can we meet?
