ok so maybe im havin a blonde moment, but i cant seem to get the rockers right on my 2.8 engine is valve lash felt at the pushrod or top of the rocker? book said back all the way off then turn one and a half times
does this sound right?

Spin the pushrod. When it gets resistance, no slack up or down... turn 1/4 turn.

Not when it doesn't spin, just when there is no more play up or down. Usually once you hit that point you can still turn them but there is no more play. As you gradually tighten the nut, keep spinning them and lift up and down at the same time. You will feel it when the slack is out. Then 1/4 more turn.

okay so the book is wrong? im gonna do it your way sounds logical to me
but, the book says zero lash then one and a half turns on the nut which sounded to tight to me
