So BigBoi and I took a cruise up to Paradise on Mount Rainier. Weather was quite warm and both of us had the tops off the cars. I took the 89 so I might have a chance to test the new brakes on the twisties - they work pretty good. For as many people that were up there, we found a few nice spots to take some pictures.

On the way down from Paradise, look close and you can see the lodge on top of the hill in the background.

This is the valley between us and the lodge in the first two pictures.

Convenient roadside shots

At one of the reflection lakes, but a bit breezy for reflections

Looking down on the upper portion of Narada Falls

Very cool! I always have trouble taking waterfall pics. They never convey what you actually see.

If you can, you need a tripod and a slow shutter speed. Although I didn't have a tripod for this one, I supported the camera the best I could with the rock wall. This is a 1 second exposure (the camera has the steady hand assist also Laughing ).

Ya, I can set shutter speed, and it has its version of steady hand too, also have a tripod. Will have to remember to try all that next time. Thanks

Al, you are shooting with a dSLR now aren't you?

I never have a lot of luck with long exposures, unless i use a timer, or remote, even with a tripod. Most of my long exposure pictures are night shots though.

What sort of shutter speed did you use for that shot? I assume you also adjusted the appeture a good amount. What lense were you using? It looks like you still have a pretty descent depth of field, so I am guessing it was a fairly wide angle?

Yes I am shooting with a DSLR (Sony Alpha A-100) and still learning with it Razz For that one, I left the aperture on auto and set the shutter to 1 second. The aperture ended up to be at F25 and the focal length at 22mm with a 18-70mm zoom. I also had the AV (same as EV?) set at +.7 from a previous shot and forgot to set it back to zero, ended up with a little more light.
